Thinking back in time one has to wonder where the present day cars came from, who started the companies. We all have heard of Henry Ford and the first assemble line of automobiles. Aside from Ford do you have any knowledge of where the first Dodge was built or who started the company? I was thinking about a 1948 Dodge Fluid Drive Coupe that I owned for some time and wishing I had not sold it. This was a great touring car back in the days after the big war. My thoughts turned to asking why these great cars have stood the test of time. Could it be pride of craftsmanship, American engineering, or both? Yes, it is both. This comes from American pride and ingenuity.
Dodge was started almost 100 years ago by John and Horace Dodge in a small building in Detroit Michigan right after the start of the 20th century. These were two master machinists who contracted to manufacture engines, transmissions, and chassis. They were so successful and with the company growing in 1914 the first Dodge car was produced. This company is now owned by Chrysler Group LLC and is one of the largest manufacturers of automobiles in the world.
Today Dodge manufactures a verity of vehicles that are sold under the Dodge brand. These fine automobiles range in size and design providing the driving public with a method of transportation suited for their everyday needs.
